FAMIS New User Guide
This guide provides an introduction to the Financial Accounting Management Information System (FAMIS) and walks a new user through accessing screens and navigating within the FAMIS environment.
Opening and Closing a Batch
Most transaction postings in FAMIS require a batch to be opened and closed as a part of the entry process. This guide provides the steps required to open a batch to begin entering transactions and then close the batch on completion of the data entry.

This guide provides the steps required to create an original budget for an account in FAMIS. Steps are provided for both Screen 10 and Screen 10B entries.

Using the Managed File Transfer Portal
The Texas A&M University System uses a web-based managed file transfer (MFT) application for downloading and uploading files to and from FAMIS. Users are granted access to download and/or upload documents based on specific job responsibilities.
Using the TMASS Request Form
The TMASS request form enables authorized requestors to submit changes to the department, subdepartment, custodian number, campus code, building and room number. Only authorized requestors may use this request form, and access is validated based on the user’s FAMIS security record.
Copying a Master Vendor
Master Vendor entries are created on the master campus level and can be copied for use on a specific campus code.

FAMIS Connection
Logging On to FAMIS
Replatformed FAMIS will go live on Monday, November 21, 2022. The logon procedure for replatformed FAMIS is different than for the current version in that it requires logging on through the Single Sign On (SSO) system.
Installing OpenText HostExplorer to Connect to FAMIS
OpenText HostExplorer is a terminal emulation software that allows users to connect their PC to FAMIS in a secure environment. Users must use a version of OpenText HostExplorer that allows for Transport Layer Security (TLS). The current recommended version of OpenText HostExplorer is version 15.0.5 or higher.
FAMIS Production-Creating a FAMIS Connection Profile from an Existing Profile
In November 2022, FAMIS will move to a new technology platform. To use the new version of FAMIS, a new connection profile must be used. Users may need to work with their IT departments to open the outbound connection and set up a new profile.

Activating FAMIS Session Window Hotspots
The FAMIS session window can be configured to show URL links as active, clickable hotspots that will open the displayed URL.
Configuring FAMIS Terminal Colors
For FAMIS, OpenText HostExplorer simulates the four-color mode; however, FAMIS normally “intensifies” all data entry fields in which typing is possible. Therefore, typically, FAMIS operates with three colors.
