FAMIS uses the concept of transaction codes (or T-codes) to classify accounting transactions and determine how to post an individual transaction to the General Ledger and Subsidiary Ledger accounts.
In FAMIS, transaction codes are three-character codes. In most cases, the first two characters are significant, impacting the posting to the ledgers, and the third character is most often used solely for documentation.
