Collaboration and Remote Access Tools

Use Remote Desktop Connection to access your work computer if you leave it at the office   You must know your computer name (SAGO-#########)

  • Laptop: look for the sticker on your laptop lid
  • Desktop: look for the sticker on top of the tower

Your desktop or laptop must be turned on before you leave the office. When done for the day, Disconnect…don’t Log Off or Shut Down

Use OneDrive to back up your documents and get to them from the cloud at any time   Access your files from any device at https://www.office.com. Log in with your TAMUS computer username and password; use your full computer password. After you log in, click on the blue cloud icon in the navigation on the left side of the screen to access OneDrive.

Use Slack for real-time conversations and group chats   Working remotely with your TAMUS laptop: Access Slack at https://slack.com/downloads/instructions/windows and follow the instructions to download it. Log in with your TAMUS email address and full password; use your full computer password and not your PIN

Working remotely with a personal computer and Remote Desktop Connection: Access Slack as you normally do.

Working remotely with a personal computer and without using Remote Desktop Connection: Access the web version at https://tamusystem.slack.com. Log in with your TAMUS email address and full password; use your full computer password and not your PIN

Use Webex  to meet with your colleagues and work together on documents

Use Webmail if you are using a personal computer or you are having trouble connecting to Outlook with your laptop   Access Webmail at https://mail.system.tamus.edu/

Log in with your email username with @tamus.edu at the end (e.g., username@tamus.edu)

Enter your computer password, not your PIN
