The GL pages in FAMISweb provide access to fund balance, net position, transaction activity and relationships between GL and subsidiary ledger (SL) accounts. We hope you like the updated look and feel, which is more like a balance sheet and helps with “at-a-glance” GL account reviews. The tips below highlight existing functionality and answer some of the most common questions users ask.
GL Overview
Mapped SL Accounts
When viewing a GL account, scroll to the bottom of the GL Overview page to see all mapped SL accounts associated with that GL. This can be a quick way to move between GL and SL research without starting a new search.
Net Position Projections and Analysis
The Net Position Projections and Analysis section is intended for on-screen review and analysis. Download functionality is not currently available for this section.
Fund Balance Analysis
Users familiar with FAMIS Screens 018, 019, 034 and 702 often look for a single fund balance page or calculator. These legacy screens each serve a different purpose:
- Screen 018 provides balance sheet information.
- Screen 019 provides revenue and expense activity.
- Screen 034 provides budget pool summary information.
- Screen 702 provides GL fund balance analysis and reserve information.
Depending on the level of detail required, you may still need to reference these legacy screens.
GL Transactions
Customize Your Transaction View
Several fields that users frequently look for, including Transaction Code (TC), Ref2 and Ref4, are available through the page’s Custom Column Selector.
You can add these columns to your transaction display, save the configuration and include the same fields in downloaded results.
Accounts Receivable (AR) Activity
AR invoices are available within FAMISweb. However, AR payment information is not currently available on the GL Transactions page.
If you can locate the invoice transaction but not the payment activity, this is expected behavior based on the current functionality.
Working Between GL and SL Accounts
Many users alternate between GL and SL research activities. FAMISweb includes several features that help navigate those relationships:
- Mapped SL accounts are available on the GL Overview page.
- Related account relationships are retained throughout the account pages.
- Transaction grids can be customized to display additional reference information needed during account research.
