Biannual Workday Releases
Workday releases new features and functionality enhancements twice a year in March and September. In addition to listing the new features below, if further information is needed, a video is also provided on one or more of the new features listed. This video will be available the week prior to the release going into production.
The following changes went into production on September 21, 2024. Watch this short video to learn in-depth details on key feature updates for this Fall!

User Experience
A new way to search in Workday: Simplified Search, is available. Users can enable or disable this feature using the toggle provided at the top of the Search Results page.
Benefits
Current benefit elections are now displayed to Employees and Retirees in the new card format in all locations across Workday. A View as Grid button is available for users to view elections in grid form, print or download as an excel file.
Note: The Benefit Partner’s view of the Employee or Retiree’s current benefit elections remains unchanged.
Payroll
A new Add Payroll Input button has been added to the Pay Results screen on the Worker Profile for more seamless navigation to frequently used functionality.
Recruiting
Resume bundling limit has been removed. Previously a maximum of 100 resumes could be bundled at a time.
Recruiting Partners can now copy a candidate’s application from one job requisition to another.
Recruiting roles will have the ability to undo move on multiple Candidates at a time, returning them to the previous stage of the job application process.
Staffing
The Search for Person section of the Hire initiation step has an updated layout. The results will also display additional fields such as Hire and Termination Dates.
Recent updates to the user interface Hire and Job Change initiation step is also visible within the Review step for these processes.
Talent
User work will autosave every 90 seconds during the Employee Self-Evaluation and Manager’s evaluation of the Employee for Performance Reviews. The Save for Later button now is labeled Save.
Reporting
For reports that have the Column Preferences icon, users can freeze columns and rearrange columns using drag and drop.

User Experience
Announcements will now be displayed at the top right of the Workday Home page improving visibility of important information for which Employees may need to take action.
Payroll
A new Prior Period Tax Adjustment Calculator task provides the ability to view the adjusted worker’s wages and taxes for a completed payroll result when a worker retroactively moves to a different primary home state or work state during the payroll period. This task can be accessed by Payroll Partners from the related actions menu of a worker’s completed payroll result.
Retro Tax Authority Change will no longer be an unsupported Payroll Retro Transaction Type. This will prevent retro tax authority changes from causing unsupported retro events.
Recruiting
The existing Career app will be replaced by a new Jobs Hub app available from the Employee’s Workday menu. This new app includes the Find Jobs report, a link to the Employee’s Skills and Experience profile page and provides access to their job applications.
Benefits
A new Benefits and Pay app will automatically replace the existing Benefits app on the Employee’s Workday menu. This new app combines features of the existing Benefits app with features of the existing Pay app. Employees have the same level of access to their benefits within the new app. Note: The Pay app has not been removed from the Workday menu.
