As of Version 1.5 (Workday)
This field is now read-only and its value is maintained and supplied by Maestro.
Note: Changes with Time and Effort version 1.2
In Time and Effort version 1.2, the ability of employees to certify their own documents was extended to other employees. The decision on who will certify their own documents is now the decision of each TAMUS university or agency. Texas A&M in College Station will continue to assign that capability only to Principal investigator eligible employees. Other TAMUS members may implement other criteria for self certification.
For this reason, In the Time and Effort system the general term “Self Certify” has replaced the term “PI eligible.”
Summary of your responsibilities
As an employee that certifies his or her own time, your role in the Time and Effort certification process is fairly simple. You must approve your own Certification Documents. If you are also designated as a manager of employees who do not self certify, you will also have responsibilities as a manager.
Certifying documents
Logon access to the system is handled through the TAMUS Single Sign On System. Simply logon to the that system and select “Time and Effort” from the menu.
As you logon to the Time and Effort System you will be presented with your inbox. Your inbox contains documents waiting for your certification. Simply select the document from the list and you will proceed to the Document Details Page.
Review the percentages and effort reported on the document and either certify or reject the document.
If you have other documents in your inbox, select those and certify them as well.
Rejecting Documents
If the Time and Effort document is not accurate and does not reflect your work effort for the period, you may need to reject your certification document.
This post describes rejecting documents in detail.
Finding and reviewing old documents
The Find Documents tab is available to help you find older documents that are no longer in your in-box.
You may optionally set up your employees for confirmation
In the Time and Effort system, Managers may set up employees so that they must confirm their Time and Effort documents. Confirmation is not the same as certifying a document, but it does allow non-PI eligible employees the opportunity to participate in the Time and Effort process.
See this page on employee confirmation for additional details.
Your employee’s documents
In addition to your role as someone who certifies your own time, you may be designated as a manager for the employees that work for you. If so, you will have documents that belong to your employees on the lower half of your in-box. Select those documents and proceed with certification on those documents.
A full description of the functions of the manager role is found under the Roles menu.
Recertification
In the case that a payroll cost transfer is filed on a document that you have certified, that document will need to be certified again and the recertification questions be answered.
