Here are the features automatically delivered by Workday in 2021 R1 and how they impact us:
Payroll
- When a payroll partner uses the Load or Refresh Input function, while committing an Off Cycle Payment, Workday no longer allows payroll calculation to pull one-time inputs into on-cycle results when they have already been used in a result within the period.
- Payroll Partners can now run the following tasks concurrently for different pay groups, minimizing processing lag and queue time.
- Run Pay Calculation
- Run Retro Pay Calculation
- The Run Pay Cancel task now has the ability to cancel a subset of pay results for a pay group, pay run group or a worker or subset of workers, improving efficiency of payroll processing.
- A new retro event category, ‘Other Data Changes’, for Change Job business processes has been added to retro processing, helping reduce manual effort when you process retro payments.

- The field “Organization” in the Hire business process is renamed to “Supervisory Organization.”

Improvements have been made in design and using branching questions in the Create Questionnaire user interface.
Time and Absence
- The time entry and submission interface has been improved making it easier to navigate to specific weeks, view totals and submit time.
- Additional filters have been added to the Review Time report to allow users to identify exceptions more efficiently.
User Experience
- When a business process is submitted or approved, users will be presented with a condensed confirmation message that can be dismissed.
- New table-viewing options enable you to expand and collapse table cells and display page numbers on tables, improving user experience and simplifying navigation.
- The Print and Export icons displayed in the header have been enhanced.
- The processing time for printing large org charts has been reduced, enabling quicker extraction of organizational data.
- Global Search performance for people and positions has been improved to run faster, eliminating timeouts.
