Overview

This sheet provides a comprehensive list of Benefit Event Types and their purposes. Also listed are each event’s coverage types, waiting periods, coverage begin and end dates and who can initiate each event. You can access this information on the second tab of this sheet.

Key Points

  • All Benefit event changes should be based on live events future dated. Retro events are not allowed in most situations and will cause issues with eligibility, payroll and integrations
  • You must wait for the benefit event to trigger in onboarding, do not start a Hire Benefit event outside of the business process flow

Administrative CorrectionThis event is used by benefit partners to make changes in the event that there is no other benefit eligible event that fits the situation. Alternate Open EnrollmentThe regular Open Enrollment event for Retirees will not allow changes to medical. This event is used by the Benefit Partner when a Retiree wants to change medical plans. Cancel the regular OE event and initiate the Alternate OE event. This event will also be used for Employees hired with benefits starting in August before their SGIP date. This event needs to be triggered manually so those new hires will also have an OE event.
