Complete Annual Goal Setting

This job aid outlines the activities for an Employee and Manager to set goals for the Employee for the upcoming performance review period.

Prerequisites

The goal setting event for an Organization must be launched for the member by Workday Services at System Offices.  However, Talent Partners can launch on an individual basis.

Important Information

  • Employees will receive an inbox task in Workday alerting them that it is time to begin the Goal Setting process.
  • Managers who edit goals an Employee has submitted should communicate the changes to the Employee. Goals edited by the Manager do not route back to the Employee for review.
  • Not all departments at all members utilize goals in the Performance review.

Getting Started

Employee Sets Goals

  1. Navigate to your inbox and select the Set Content: Goal Setting Process inbox task.
  2. Select the Get Started button.Getting started button is highlighted.
  3. The first page will provide basic instructions.
  4. Select Add to begin adding goals.Add button for adding a goal is highlighted.
  5. Select the Add Existing drop-down menu if you would like to add a goal that was entered previously. Then select that goal in the below field. Select Existing goals drop down menu.
  6. Complete the following fields: Goal (required), Description, Due Date, Organizational Alignment and Status.Employee enters goals dialogue box.
  7. Select Add to create the next goal, as necessary.
  8. Continue until you have added all goals.
  9. Select Next.

 

Employee Reviews Goals

  1. Review the goals you have entered.
  2. If you are satisfied with the goals you have entered, select Submit

Review the goals you have entered.

Navigate to the Up Next tab for the next steps in the process.

    Manager Reviews Goals Set by Employee

    Your manager in Workday will receive an inbox task to review your goals. They will either edit, approve or send back the goals.

    1. Select the Set Content: Goal Setting Process: Employee Name inbox task.
    2. Select the Get Started button.Manager getting started.
    3. The first page will provide basic instructions for reviewing the form and display the goals entered by the Employee.Manager reviews the employee's goals.

    Note: You can review/edit the goals on this page or select Next.

    1. Review, add, or edit goals or confirm what you have already edited.
    2. Select Next.
      Final Review of Employee's Goals.

    IMPORTANT: If you need to make changes to goals, the best practice is to Send Back to the Employee and communicate those changes. If you make changes to the goals directly as the manager, the new goal will not be routed to the Employee for review.

    1. Select Submit. A confirmation message will appear.

    This completes the Annual Goal Setting business process.
