Phishing Schemes an Ongoing Threat

Phishing schemes continue to pose a threat to all web users. Recently, employees of The Texas A&M University System were targeted in a phishing scheme. Employees received an email message inviting them to update their email settings due to recent changes. The email contained a link to a page that impersonated the A&M System SSO page, and a handful of employees clicked through and eventually entered their user ID and passwords on the phishing site.

  • Be wary of clicking any links in emails.
  • When in doubt, go directly to the site by typing the address in the navigation bar.
  • Take a quick look at the URL line before you sign in.
