What is ID.me?
ID.me is a next-generation digital identity network that simplifies how individuals securely prove their identity online. ID.me’s technology meets federal standards for consumer authentication set by the Department of Commerce and is approved as a NIST 800-63-3 IAL2/AAL2 credential service provider by the Kantara Initiative. ID.me is committed to “No Identity Left Behind” to enable all people to have a secure digital identity.

I already have an ID.me account. Can I use it with SSO?
Yes. In fact, you should have only one account with ID.me. Your ID.me account belongs to you and is completely independent of your employment or retirement relationship with the A&M System.
Please note that you may need to verify additional information with ID.me to use your account with SSO. This process is similar to creating a new account.
I don’t have a Social Security Number. Can I create an ID.me account and use it with SSO?
If you have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), you can use your ITIN to create your ID.me account. Learn more about verifying your identity in this situation.
Your Human Resources department will have to enter your ITIN in UIN Manager to connect it with SSO. When that is done, you will be able to use ID.me with SSO.
I don’t have either an SSN or an ITIN. What can I do?
If you have a foreign passport with a photo ID, you will be able to use your non-US passport to create your ID.me account. Learn more about verifying your identity in this situation.
To use your foreign passport with ID.me, click “I don’t live in the United States” when asked about your photo ID. ID.me will use a video call to verify your identity.
Note that your identity documentation must be from the country specified on your foreign passport.
Your Human Resources department will have to enter your passport information in UIN Manager to connect it with SSO. When that is done, you will be able to use ID.me with SSO.
I’m having trouble verifying my identity or signing in to my ID.me account. How do I get help?
You might not be able to complete your verification because of account sign-in issues, a duplicate account or trouble uploading your documents.
First, review the I couldn’t verify my identity or I can’t sign in to my account documents for help with completing verification.

Are new or former employees with a valid A&M System login required to use ID.me?
No. For example, if a current student is being hired as a new employee and can use an A&M System member’s identity provider to access SSO, he/she does not need to use ID.me.
This could also apply in other scenarios such as a professor emeritus and other cases.
I’m under 18. Can I create an ID.me account?
Not at this time. We expect this to be supported by ID.me later in 2026.
I have Power of Attorney for a family member or other person. I can I use my own ID.me login to access their A&M System account?
Not at this time. Neither ID.me nor SSO supports Power of Attorney logins.
Can affiliate users use ID.me to log in to SSO?
Generally not. Most students, contractors, and other affiliated individuals do not have a Workday account with the A&M System.
That said, the HR department at your institution may create a Contingent Worker record in Workday in some cases. If this is done for an individual, he/she can use ID.me with SSO.
How do I update my ID.me account?
You can change or add email addresses, update your password and more at account.id.me. To learn how, visit Managing your ID.me account settings. No, you can only have one verified ID.me account. The account is tied to you as an individual, similar to having one driver’s license or Social Security number. If you think you have multiple accounts, you can troubleshoot at What to do if you have a duplicate account.
How do I know I successfully verified my identity?
After you complete the verification process for the first time, you’ll receive an email from ID.me confirming that your identity has been successfully verified. If you used your existing ID.me login to share your identity information with a new organization, you’ll receive a text message from ID.me confirming you used your account to access an organization. To see which organizations you’ve shared your identity information with, visit Finding who you shared your information with.
Will ID.me sell my information?
Your privacy is important to the A&M System and ID.me, and they make it a priority to protect and safeguard your information. ID.me will not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Learn about the ID.me Privacy Center.
Can I verify my identity in a language other than English (Haitian Creole, Mandarin, Spanish, etc.)?
