Duo Security requires a Duo Mobile app version newer than 4.85 (greater number after the period; for example, 4.107) and an operating system (OS) version of iOS 17 (Apple) or Android 12 or newer to use push notifications.
Pre-hires and former employees who use their UIN login for Single Sign On (SSO) system access may lose the ability to use push notifications to authenticate their SSO logins if they do not update their Duo Mobile app.
This change does not affect current employees who use their campus/agency login or pre‑hires and former employees who use ID.me to authenticate SSO UIN logins.
To continue using push notifications with Duo Mobile:
- Verify your Duo Mobile version and, if needed, update the app as soon as possible, before March 31, 2026.
- Verify that your device OS is iOS 17 or Android 12 or newer as soon as possible, before April 16, 2026.
On March 31, 2026, Duo Mobile versions lower than 4.85 will no longer be able to use push notifications.
On April 16, 2026, Duo Mobile will no longer be supported on OS versions lower than iOS 17/Android 12. This means that you will not be able to update Duo Mobile with older OS versions and, therefore, will no longer be able to use push notifications.
NOTE: You can still use the SMS/text option to authenticate your SSO UIN logins.
What happens if I don’t update Duo Mobile?
Starting March 31, 2026, you will no longer receive push notifications, which will prevent you from completing your SSO login and accessing Workday.
What happens if my device OS is not supported?
Starting April 16, 2026, you will not be able to update Duo Mobile to the current version. You will no longer receive push notifications, which will prevent you from completing your SSO login and accessing Workday.
What other options do I have?
If you are unable to receive push notifications from the Duo Mobile app, you may create an ID.me account as an alternate authentication method or use the “Send me a text” feature in Duo.
What do I need to do?
To check your Duo Mobile version:
- Open the app.
- Tap ☰ to open the menu.
- The version number will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
If the version number (the number after the period) is higher than 4.85, no further action is needed.
NOTE: The current version of Duo Mobile is 4.108.
To update the Duo Mobile app:
- Open the App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Search for Duo Mobile.
- Tap Update.
The update will take just a moment, and no additional steps are required.
- If you have updated Duo Mobile and receive a message stating Duo is disconnected, log in to SSO as normal, then repeat the initial Duo setup process to reconnect.
- If the app asks for a QR code or a code from IT, log in to SSO to initiate the setup process and receive the QR code.
