Why Can’t I Update an Employee’s Name, etc., in UIN Manager?

For employees, Workday is the system of record for personal information such as name, birth date, and gender. Therefore, changes to these values should be made in Workday, not in UIN Manager.

Note that these data elements are synchronized from Workday into the UIN data store when updated in Workday. Changes made in Workday will appear in the UIN data overnight whenever it is possible to do so.

However, certain changes to data made in Workday may not be allowed to sync to the UIN data store. For example, the use of special characters – particularly Unicode characters outside of the normal English-language character set – are not be allowed.

Similarly, care should be taken to ensure than individual’s name suffix – Jr, Sr, III, et al – are entered into the proper field in Workday and not appended to the person’s last name.
