The ‘Trust Browser’ feature works by the browser setting a cookie on the computer. If the browser can’t find the cookie or the cookie has expired, it will be necessary to use two-factor authentication.
The most common reason a cookie can’t be found is because the browser is set to delete all cookies when it closes. This may be due to a local IT policy or a default setting of the browser.
Each browser sets its own cookie and each computer has its own set of cookies. This means that the ‘Trust Browser’ box can be checked on an employee’s desktop computer but not his laptop computer. It also means that the box could be checked for Chrome on the desktop computer but not FireFox on the same computer.
The links below are for instructions on how to manage cookies on the most popular browsers.
