[{"id":2247,"date":"2026-01-20T14:05:25","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T20:05:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/it.tamus.edu\/sso\/?p=2247"},"modified":"2026-03-20T09:33:31","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T14:33:31","slug":"duo-mobile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/it.tamus.edu\/sso\/duo-mobile\/","title":{"rendered":"Duo Mobile for SSO UIN Login"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Duo Security requires a Duo Mobile app version newer than 4.85 (greater number after the period; for example, 4.107) and an operating system (OS) version of iOS 17 (Apple) or Android 12 or newer to use push notifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pre-hires and former employees who use their UIN login for Single Sign On (SSO) system access may lose the ability to use push notifications to authenticate their SSO logins if they do not update their Duo Mobile app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This change does not affect current employees<\/strong> who use their campus\/agency login or pre\u2011hires and former employees who use <strong>ID.me<\/strong> to authenticate SSO UIN logins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To continue using <strong>push notifications<\/strong> with Duo Mobile:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Verify your <strong>Duo Mobile version<\/strong> and, if needed, update the app as soon as possible, before <strong>March 31, 2026<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify that your <strong>device OS<\/strong> is iOS 17 or Android 12 or newer as soon as possible, before <strong>April 16, 2026<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 31, 2026, Duo Mobile versions lower than 4.85 will no longer be able to use push notifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On April 16, 2026, Duo Mobile will no longer be supported on OS versions lower than iOS 17\/Android 12. The integration of ID.me addresses several critical objectives:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"6\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,0,0\"><b>Improved Security:<\/b><span class=\"citation-9 citation-end-9\"> ID.me offers advanced security and protection for individual users and the A&amp;M System&#8217;s member data and information.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,1,0\"><b>Process Simplification:<\/b> While initial adjustments are expected, ID.me is anticipated to simplify business processes, including the management of authenticator apps like Duo, in the long run.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,2,0\"><b>Enhanced User Experience:<\/b><span class=\"citation-8 citation-end-8\"> ID.me is a trusted identity verification service utilized by many federal and state agencies, including the Social Security Administration.<\/span> This familiarity is expected to simplify the login experience for retirees and other former employees who may already have an ID.me account.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,3,0\"><b>Smoother Onboarding:<\/b> The switch will make it easier for pre-employees to gain necessary access to A&amp;M System SSO and Workday <i>before<\/i> their first official day of work.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Scope_of_Impact\"><\/span>Scope of Impact<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">The integration of ID.me specifically impacts the authentication process for non-active employee status groups:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"10\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,0,0\"><b>Pre-Employees:<\/b> Most will log into SSO with ID.me instead of a UIN. Instead, a grid of campus and agency logos are displayed as login choices.\u00a0 When a user clicks a logo, they will be directed to the login page for that system member. After successfully authenticating,\u00a0 the user will be directed to the application they originally requested or the SSO main menu.<\/p>\n<p>With the initial logon, the logos are listed alphabetically.\u00a0 Each successive login will have the last used logo as the first choice in the grid. This is considered the user&#8217;s preferred login so it is moved to the first choice of the top row as a convenience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The UIN and password fields are still available by clicking the Texas A&amp;M System seal logo.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Duo\"><\/span>Duo<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The two-factor part of logging in will appear slightly different because of the new <a href=\"https:\/\/guide.duo.com\/universal-prompt#about-the-duo-universal-prompt\">Duo Universal Prompt\u00a0<\/a> that makes using two-factor easier.<\/p>\n<p>The Duo two-factor prompt will no longer display as part of the SSO application but will instead redirect to a separate Duo webpage. This change will roll out May 5 through 12 as part of Duo\u2019s regular release process.<\/p>\n<p>Web-based applications will display the following error message: \u201cAccess denied.
