ID.me&#8217;s technology meets federal standards for consumer authentication set by the Department of Commerce and is approved as a NIST 800-63-3 IAL2\/AAL2 credential service provider by the Kantara Initiative. Can I use it with SSO?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><strong>\r\n\r\n<\/strong> Yes. In fact, you should have only one account with ID.me. Your ID.me account belongs to you and is completely independent of your employment or retirement relationship with the A&amp;M System.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Please note that you may need to verify additional information with ID.me to use your account with SSO. This process is similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/it.tamus.edu\/sso\/id-me\/#creating-your-account\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#create\">creating a new account<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>I don&#8217;t have a Social Security Number. Can I create an ID.me account and use it with SSO?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>If you have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), you can <a href=\"https:\/\/help.id.me\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/5976073273623-Verify-with-ID-me-using-an-Individual-taxpayer-identification-number-ITIN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">use your ITIN to create your ID.me account<\/a>. Learn more about <a href=\"https:\/\/help.id.me\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/12588083051543-Verifying-your-identity-as-a-new-United-States-citizen-or-permanent-resident\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">verifying your identity<\/a> in this situation.<\/p>\r\n<p>Your Human Resources department will have to enter your ITIN in UIN Manager to connect it with SSO. When that is done, you will be able to use ID.me with SSO.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>I don&#8217;t have either an SSN or an ITIN. What can I do?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>If you have a foreign passport with a photo ID, you will be able to <a href=\"https:\/\/help.id.me\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/26952364097559-Verify-with-ID-me-using-a-non-U-S-passport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">use your non-US passport to create your ID.me account<\/a>. Learn more about <a href=\"https:\/\/help.id.me\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/12588083051543-Verifying-your-identity-as-a-new-United-States-citizen-or-permanent-resident\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">verifying your identity<\/a> in this situation.<\/p>\r\n<p>To use your foreign passport with ID.me, click &#8220;<strong>I don&#8217;t live in the United States<\/strong>&#8221; when asked about your photo ID. ID.me will <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.system.tamus.edu\/esi\/sso\/id-me\/StepByStep.ShortVideoCall.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">use a video call to verify your identity<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>Note that your identity documentation must be from the country specified on your foreign passport.<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>Your Human Resources department will have to enter your passport information in UIN Manager to connect it with SSO. When that is done, you will be able to use ID.me with SSO.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>I\u2019m having trouble verifying my identity or signing in to my ID.me account. How do I get help?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><strong>\r\n\r\n<\/strong> You might not be able to complete your verification because of account sign-in issues, a duplicate account or trouble uploading your documents.<\/p>\r\n<p>First, review the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.id.me\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360017838594\">I couldn\u2019t verify my identity<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/help.id.me\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/6482724739607-I-can-t-sign-in-to-my-account?utm_campaign=tt&amp;utm_content=cantsignin&amp;utm_medium=homepage&amp;utm_source=hc\">I can\u2019t sign in to my account<\/a> documents for help with completing verification.<\/p>\r\n<p>If you continue to have problems accessing your ID.me account, see our <a href=\"https:\/\/it.tamus.edu\/sso\/id-me\/#getting-help\">Getting Help<\/a> page and\/or contact ID.me support.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Are new or former employees with a valid A&amp;M System login required to use ID.me?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>No. For example, if a current student is being hired as a new employee and can use an A&amp;M System member&#8217;s identity provider to access SSO, he\/she does not need to use ID.me.<\/p>\r\n<p>This could also apply in other scenarios such as a professor emeritus and other cases.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>I&#8217;m under 18. Can I create an ID.me account?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Not at this time. We expect this to be supported by ID.me later in 2026.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>I have Power of Attorney for a family member or other person. I can I use my own ID.me login to access their A&amp;M System account?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Not at this time. Neither ID.me nor SSO supports Power of Attorney logins.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Can affiliate users use ID.me to log in to SSO?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Generally not. Most students, contractors, and other affiliated individuals do not have a Workday account with the A&amp;M System.<\/p>\r\n<p>That said, the HR department at your institution may create a Contingent Worker record in Workday in some cases. If this is done for an individual, he\/she can use ID.me with SSO.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do I update my ID.me account?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-heading\">You can change or add email addresses, update your password and more at <a href=\"http:\/\/account.id.me\/\">account.id.me<\/a>. The account is tied to you as an individual, similar to having one driver\u2019s license or Social Security number. If you think you have multiple accounts, you can troubleshoot at <a href=\"https:\/\/help.id.me\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/1500002444141\">What to do if you have a duplicate account<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><!-- \/wp:post-content -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:heading {\"level\":2} --><\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do I know I successfully verified my identity?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>After you complete the verification process for the first time, you\u2019ll receive an email from ID.me confirming that your identity has been successfully verified. If you used your existing ID.me login to share your identity information with a new organization, you\u2019ll receive a text message from ID.me confirming you used your account to access an organization. Such individuals can be given an Affiliate logon within SSO. This can be done while logging in to SSO and on the <a href=\"https:\/\/it.tamus.edu\/sso\/help-system\/key-concepts\/employee-navigation\/profile\/\">&#8216;Profile&#8217; tab<\/a> in SSO. \u00a0It is also possible to request an SSO Admin to send a &#8216;reactivation text&#8217; to an enrolled smart phone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Check Network Availability<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Limited data network availability\u00a0may prevent the device from receiving push notifications from the Duo system.\u00a0 Some phones may have trouble determining whether to use the WiFi or cellular data channel when checking for push requests, and simply turning the phone to airplane mode and back to normal operating mode again often resolves these sort of issues, if there is a reliable internet connection available.\u00a0 Similarly, the issue may be resolved by turning off the WiFi connection on your device and using the cellular data connection.<\/p>\n<p>Check the time and date on your phone and make sure they are correct. If the date and time on your phone are manually set, try changing your device&#8217;s configuration to sync date and time automatically with the network.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alternative Authentication Methods<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the above suggestions don&#8217;t resolve the issue with receiving the Duo Mobile app push notifications, it is possible to use the Passcode or Call option as an alternative.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Passcode<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>When prompted by Duo, click the &#8220;Other options&#8221; link and choose &#8220;Duo Mobile passcode&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Open the Duo Mobile app on the enrolled device<\/li>\n<li>Press the &#8220;passcode&#8221; function on the app to generate the passcode<\/li>\n<li>Enter this number into the Passcode input box in Duo<\/li>\n<li>Click the &#8216;Log in&#8217; button<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Phone Call\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>When prompted by Duo, click the &#8220;Other options&#8221; link and choose &#8220;Phone call&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Answer the phone call on the selected device<\/li>\n<li>Press any number on the phone&#8217;s keypad<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Backup Device<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is a good practice to have a backup two-factor method that will work in any situation. In other instances, an employee doesn&#8217;t have a mobile phone, doesn&#8217;t have reliable cellular service, or prefers not to use their cell phone at work.<\/p>\n<p>It is possible to enroll more than one device for employees that work from more than one location or travel for work. \u00a0For example, an employee may have their mobile phone as the default but they can also add their home phone, a conference room phone or a hotel room phone. \u00a0Devices can be added and deleted as needed by the employee or an SSO administrator.<\/p>\n<p>A tablet, such as an iPad or a Galaxy Tab, can also be enrolled as a device. This choice requires the free Duo Push mobile app to be downloaded and installed on the device.<\/p>\n<p>Older cell phones can be used in a manner similar to a landline: Duo calls the cell phone, the employee answers the call and pushes any number key.<\/p>\n<p>The Passcode option is also available to a cell phone that isn&#8217;t a smartphone. Choosing this option prompts Duo to send a text message to the enrolled cell phone.
