Monthly Payroll is implemented with employees’ security in mind. This topic discusses some of the steps that have been taken to secure the application.
Secure Data Channels
The application uses SSL to encrypt data as it moves from Texas A&M University System’s web server(s) to clients’ browsers.
Users log on using the Texas A&M University System’s SSO application. See the SSO documentation for more information regarding this application.
The Monthly Payroll application’s authorization is role-based, meaning that its users can only perform functions that they’ve been explicitly authorized to use.
If required, a user can be granted multiple roles; however, only the user’s current role is considered when access is granted to system functions. Administrative roles are granted at the Workstation or Adloc, as appropriate.
Only authorized SSO users can grant access to the Monthly Payroll application. For departmental roles, an SSO central administrator who also has Monthly Payroll central administrator privileges can assign departmental roles such as department administrator and approver.
For higher-level roles like central administrator, payroll approver, and system administrator, a request must be made to the TAMU System Offices’ Business Computing Services department at BCSSupport@tamus.edu.
